One Million Strong has Soul !

You won’t find pictures or content on this website telling you how bad it is, or repeating statistics that tell us how messed up our world and it’s youth is. You only have to read the newspapers and watch the news to know that our youth are at risk. The reason we don’t focus on these stats is because we know that you know. We also know you care.

What’s way more important is the fact that we at One Million Strong are focused on making a difference by challenging young people to take responsibility for their lives; to stand up and be a solution and not the problem. Our goal is to equip young people with values and principles that will assist them to make life changing decisions.

One Million Strong was birthed in the heart of a father who walked a journey with his daughter who was caught up in the dark world of drugs and addiction. Ten years of addiction and pain finally ended in victory; others have not been as fortunate. It’s this journey that is the “soul” of who we are and what we do. Our commitment is to reach as many young people as possible and help them not to go down the same road of destruction.

OUR GOAL

The challenges we are faced with are huge; most times we don’t even know where to start. All we know is that we have a mandate to do something; it burns within our very being. It is for this purpose that 1 Million Strong has reached out to significant partners and organisations to collaborate with us in our effort to raise the next generation of leaders

You will notice that the One Million Strong logo has two important components

Wings – these wings depict the tips of an Eagle’s wings. Our desire is to see our youth flying high leaving behind anything that may inhibit them in anyway whatsoever.
A compass – it’s no use being able to soar if you don’t have a purpose for your life. We strive to help young people find direction and purpose in their life.

OUR STRATEGY

Our strategy is simple yet effective; 1 Million Strong will collaborate and partner with as many organisations, institutions of learning, people of influence, communities and governments as possible. This collaboration will ensure that we are able to impact as many young people as possible.

We are intent and purposeful in focusing more on building the attitudes and character of our youth. Years of research done by some of the top learning institutions show us that the “softer skills” are grossly neglected in most of our schools, resulting in the problems we have already identified.

Education requires a reformation if we are going to make a difference.

OUR FOCUS

We all realize the task at hand is enormous and it’s impossible for one organisation to focus its attention and resources in order to resolve all the challenges. It is for this reason that 1 Million Strong has chosen to focus on “the vital few” rather than the “trivial many.” After careful consideration we have chosen to focus on the following:

Ensuring that our programmes are inspirational, challenging and life changing
Work towards communities playing a greater role in their schools
Challenge parents to be role-models and become more involved in the education of their children.
Balance the use of technology and human interaction to maximize the cause.
Deploy holistic initiatives to impact on as many young people as possible.
Be mentors and raise mentors.
